A little girl saved her mother after she passed out at the wheel, according to press reports in Chicago, Illinois.
the 9-year-old girl is credited with saving the life of her mother, by stopping her car after her mother fainted at the wheel during a diabetic emergency.
The local television news station reported that Aleksandra Sheridan was riding in the passenger seat of the car of her mother in Frankfort, Illinois, when her blood sugar fell dangerously low and she lost control of the vehicle.
Aleksandra turned the key to stop the vehicle, preventing the vehicle from crashing into a tree. Her mother, Jennifer, was apparently speeding before the car stopped.
“At one point she went through a red light and then the next point she was going over 70 miles per hour,” Aleksandra told the television news station. “She slowed down once I told her and she just went off the road,” she added.
Aleksandra gave her chocolate bars while they waited for police to arrive. No one was injured during the incident.
“Thank God we were not hurt and did not get to an accident or hurt anyone else,” the third grader told the television news station.
Aleksandra’s mother said she is now getting her medicine for diabetes using an insulin pump, the report said.
