A little boy was arrested and charged with gun related crimes after bringing a toy plastic gun to school, according to police reports in Virginia.
The 10-year-old boy was arrested after Alexandria police said he brought a toy gun to school on Tuesday, a day after he showed it to other children on a school bus.
The boy, a fifth grader at Douglas MacArthur Elementary School, whose name has not been released, was charged as a juvenile with brandishing a weapon, police said.
He was also suspended from school. Alexandria City Public Schools Superintendent, Morton Sherman, said that other measures are being considered, including expulsion.
On Monday, the boy showed the plastic gun to at least one student during a bus ride home from school. The 10-year-old did not point it at anyone or threaten to shoot it, but forgot to mention that the gun was a fake, a police spokesperson, Ashley Hildebrandt, said.
