(Scroll down for video) A man was arrested and charged with sexual assault related charges after groping a woman inside a Brooklyn, New York, hospital, according to a statement by the New York Police Department.
A woman said she woke up at Kings County Hospital, with a man touching her and he was not a doctor.
On the fifth floor of the criminal courthouse in downtown Brooklyn, the suspect, 52-year-old Greg Campfield, was silent as a judge set his bond.
He was charged with forcible touching and sexual abuse.
Prosecutors said that the incident happened in the emergency room of Kings County Hospital.
The victim’s brother, still cannot believe what happened.
“I want answers. I want to know why. The hospital should be a safe place for an unhealthy person and something like this happened to my sister. I’m hysterical about it,” the victim’s brother said.
She said the attack occurred shortly before 4:00 am on Tuesday.
She was asleep on medication in the emergency room and the suspect groped her with his hands and raised her clothing.
“She did not know what was happening. She just woke up and this man was groping her,” the victim’s brother said. “When she woke up she said she saw the man touching her private parts,” he added.
He said his sister started to scream so that doctors and nurses rushed to help.
The suspect, who was another patient, did not even try to escape.
The hospital issued a statement Tuesday night saying: “We are aware that a patient this morning alerted the staff after being assaulted by another patient. Security was alerted immediately and the male patient was delivered to the police in New York. We are ensuring that the patient is receiving all the attention and support she and her family needs.”
