(Scroll down for video) The wife of the late Palestinian leader, Yasser Arafat, revealed that she wanted to leave her husband more than 100 times, according to press reports in Turkey.

The widow of Yasser Arafat has said that she tried to leave her husband more than a hundred times and that had she known what the marriage with the Palestinian leader would be like, she would never have gone through with it.

Suha Arafat told a Turkish newspaper that she had loved her husband, but the marriage was a big mistake and that she regrets it. “I know there are a lot of women who wanted to marry Arafat, but he wanted only me. This was my destiny,” she said.
The couple married in secret in Tunisia in 1990, when she was 27 and Arafat was 61. Their daughter Zahwa was born five years later.

Her mother had opposed the marriage she said. “Later I realized why. If I knew what was going to be, I clearly would not have married him. True, he was a great leader, but I was lonely,” she said.

“I tried to leave hundreds of times, but he would not let me. Everyone knows how he would not let me go. Especially his servants. They know very well what it was like,” she added.
