(Scroll down for video) A very old woman had to sell off all of her possessions in order to be able to bury her husband, according to press reports in Washington.

The 91-year-old woman, who lives in Arlington, Washington, sold all her belongings so she can afford to bury her late husband.

Elsie Smith told a television news station that she hopes that by selling off all her possessions through a sale, she will have enough money to bury her husband in the same cemetery that members of the family are buried, in Snohomish, Washington.
Smith said that one day, she wants to be buried there too.

Smith was married to her late husband, Joe Smith, for 46 and a half years, she said. The two met through her niece’s husband, who was a colleague of his at the time.

Joe Smith died at age 88, last week. During the past two years, he had been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
“I loved that man more than anything in this whole wide world,” she told the television news station.

Smith has a total of $9 to her name. She said she believes it will cost around $3,000 for the funeral.
“I would like to help in any way I can,” she said.

Everything is at stake in Smith’s apartment when the sale takes place, except her makeup and clothes, she said. Smith said she will not be selling clothes from her husband either.

Smith said her late husband’s niece is helping her with the sale of goods, which she thinks will happen next week.
“I like to keep everything,” she said. “But I have to sell some items,” she added.
