(Scroll down for video) A teen was arrested and charged after police found the remains of a little girl inside his closet, according to police reports in Colorado.
A detective said that the 18-year-old man is accused of kidnapping and murder of a suburban Denver school girl as he kept some of the remains of the girl in a basement in a house he shared with his mother.
Luis Lopez of the Westminster police testified Friday that the teen, Austin Sigg, had been on the radar of investigators even before a neighbor called a tip line suggesting that they pay him a visit.
Two FBI agents responded and took a DNA sample from Sigg, four days before his mother called to say he confessed to killing the 10-year-old girl, Jessica Ridgeway.
Sigg’s mother also told authorities of the human remains.
Lopez said that the remains were later identified as Jessica and DNA linked him to the remains of Jessica and clothing. He said that police found no semen.
Sigg is charged with murder, kidnapping, sexual assault and robbery. Prosecutors have also added three counts of sexual exploitation of a child, because child pornography was allegedly found during the investigation.
