Several Torah scrolls which were lost during World War Two in the Warsaw ghetto were found and returned, according to press reports in Israel.
Three Book of Esther scrolls which survived the Holocaust have been returned to the Jewish people, Shem Olam organization for the study of the Holocaust has reported.
The scrolls were found in the attic of a house in Warsaw, Poland, which was once part of the Warsaw Ghetto.
The house was one of the few which survive the war.
Over the years it has been renovated, but the attic was left as is. Recently, the roof of the house collapsed and was renovated when the discovery was made.
The Jewish sacred Torah scrolls had been hidden in a secret compartment in an attempt to save them from the Nazis.
The Torah scrolls were first handed over to the Polish police and were then released to the Shem Olam organization.
