2 police officers were arrested and charged after they raped a woman who refused their demands of a $235 payment, according to police reports in Mexico.
Prosecutors in Mexico say they have charged the two police officer of raping an Italian woman in a Caribbean beach town where she lives.
Prosecutors in the state of Quintana Roo said that the municipal police officers were arrested over the weekend in Playa de Carmen.
The officers allegedly raped the woman after she refused their demands for money.
Prosecutors said the officers had demanded 3,000 pesos or about $235 from the victim and a companion after facing charges for public urination. After the woman refused, Ramon Gaiters Xicotencatl, a police commander took the woman and raped her while being held down by another police officer.
The officers face charges of abuse of authority and rape.
