(Scroll down for video) A young teen was shot and killed after he refused to hand over his just purchased shoes he held inside a shopping bag at a bus stop, according to police reports in Maryland.
Police said that the 15-year-old boy from Maryland, was killed during an attempted robbery of a pair of shoes after making a stand against his attackers.
Charles Walker Jr. from Hillcrest Heights was found suffering from a gunshot wound two blocks from his home Monday afternoon.
He was taken to a hospital, where he later died of his wounds.
The victim’s aunt, Laurice Massey told a local television news station that the teen was at a bus stop when he was attacked.
A police source close to the investigation indicated that Walker was shot in the back when he refused to hand over a bag supposedly containing a pair of shoes.
Relatives told the television news station that the contents of the bag, which was left at the scene of the crime after the shooting, contained a pair of Timberland boots, Walker had intended to give to his beloved girlfriend.
Prince George’s County school system issued a statement calling the death senseless.
Police have arrested 5 suspects for being behind the murder. The 5 suspects were identified as 20-year-old Derryk Green of Alexandria, 23-year-old Glenn Leach of Southeast Washington, 18-year-old Jermani Whitner of Temple Hills, 21-year-old Tayvon Williams of Oxon Hill and 21-year-old Kevin Smith of Temple Hills.
