(Scroll down for video) A teacher suffered a major embarrassment after being caught on video stealing from students, according to press reports in California.

A sophomore in a high school in California, said she was shocked when a video she set up in order to catch a thief stealing from the backpacks of students allegedly revealed an unexpected suspect, her teacher.

Betti Justine said that several students decided to investigate the thefts after her classmates complained that items were missing from their backpacks after gym class. Justine hid in a closet to catch the suspect and said that she was surprised to see her teacher rummaging through the belongings of students.

“After all the students left she just stood there and went through the bags of the students, Justine told a local television news station. “I saw her take the money and then I told the other students, but no one believed me,” she added.

Justine said she decided that she needed som proof, so she took two phones with cameras and hid them in the lockers.
The video shows how the teacher went through several backpacks, apparently taking money from a pink backpack.

“I did not believe she would do something like that because it is not very nice, but then she did,” Justine said.
The teacher has been placed on administrative leave while the Linden School District and San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department investigate the alleged incident, but no charges have been filed yet.
