Chabad rabbi gives Torah classes to Jews and non-Jews in New York City

(Scroll down for video) A Chabad rabbi became famous in Manhattan for his intellectual Torah classes which attracts many people from many backgrounds.

Every Wednesday night, many Jews and non-Jews alike flock to the class to listen as he explains the meaning of the Torah.

 “He has great anecdotes and he shows that the Torah is the best and oldest self-help book,” Margo Morrison said.

Rabbi Simon Jacobson, lives in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. He is a devoted follower of the Lubavitcher rebbe. Jacobson believes that it is his mission in life to spread spirituality.

“If one is cold he can either put on a fur coat and be warm, or he can light a fire and make everyone around him warm,” Jacobson said. He chose to light a fire and help others light their spiritual fire.

Rabbi Jacobson, is the author of the best-selling book Toward a Meaningful Life, there were over 300,000 copies sold to date and has been translated into many languages including, Hebrew, French, Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese, Italian, Russian, German, Hungarian and more.

Rabbi Jacobson, leads the Meaningful Life Center, which bridges the gap between the secular and spiritual worlds. In addition to his Wednesday Torah class he also hosts a wide variety of live programming and online. The Center, which has now found a home in downtown Manhattan, offers people of all backgrounds, the universal teachings of the Torah as a guide for life.

Rabbi Jacobson, has lectured to diverse audiences on six continents and in forty states on spiritual issues, applying Jewish thought to contemporary life. All his teachings are rooted in the timeless teachings of the Torah, but also profoundly timely and relevant in everyday life.
