(Scroll down for video) Jewish rap artist Drake, won his first Grammy award. Drake took the award for the best rap album for his album called “Take Care”.
Drake, competed against some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Jay Z, Kanye West and Eminem, and he won.
Frank Ocean, was also a first-time winner, taking the best urban contemporary album award for Channel Orange.
He beat Chris Brown, after the two recently had a falling out. Ocean, walked onto the stage with tape on two of his fingers, a remnant of the fight, Brown, applauded politely and nodded as he walked off the stage.
Jay Z, and Kanye West, won two Grammy Awards. Then, they took a third award, shared with Ocean, for their collaboration on “No Church in the Wild.”
Drake Graham, was born in Toronto, Canada, on October 24, 1986. His mother Sandi Graham, was an an educator and his father, Dennis Graham, was a drummer who worked with Jerry Lee Lewis.
Drake’s father is an African American man from Memphis, Tennessee, and his mother is a Jewish woman from Canada.
Drake attended a Jewish day school and he had a Bar Mitzvah.
His parents divorced when he was five-years-old and was raised by his mother in Toronto. Speaking about his mother, Drake said:
“She wanted the best for her family. I love my mother dearly.”
According to reports, Drake credits a lot of his success to his Jewish mother.
