Woman arrested after her 11-year-old son shoots her in the head

(Scroll down for video) In an ironic turn of events, a mother was arrested after she was shot in the head by her son.

36-year-old Stacy Duggan, of Lenoir City, Tennessee, was rushed to University of Tennessee Medical Center, where she was treated for serious injuries caused by the gunshot wounds.

Duggan was listed in critical condition, after her 11-year-old son accidentally shot her in the head with a loaded gun he found in the house.

When the mother recovered she was arrested and charged with child neglect.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the 11-year-old son accidentally shot his mother in the head after he found a loaded gun under the mattress of a bed inside the residence.

Her husband, Dan Duggan, was also arrested and charged with neglect for carrying a loaded gun within the reach of a child.

According to court documents, Dan Duggan also faces a charge of aggravated child abuse for an earlier incident in which the couple’s son was injured in a car accident while he was driving.

In that accident, one of the couple’s four children suffered serious injuries.

Child Services took the couple’s four children.
