A shocking court ruling has many people up in arms. A 14-year-old boy, was ordered by a judge, to register as a sex offender, after giving his classmate a hickey.
The 14-year-old boy from Germany, was ordered to submit a DNA sample which will be stored in a biometric registration for sex offenders.
The ruling has gotten so much attention, that Germany’s highest court is investigating the case.
The unidentified boy landed in jail, after the parents of a 13-year-old girl went to the police and lodged a complaint against the boy.
The parents of the 13-year-old girl told officers, that their daughter came home from school with a hickey on her neck. The boy was then charged with child abuse, according to reports.
The 14-year-old boy was accused of kissing the girl on the neck since a love bite was clearly visible. The girl also claimed that her classmate “repeatedly touched her genitals from on top of her clothing.”
The boy, claimed that the kissing and making out had been entirely consensual, but the lawyer for the girl’s family said that the girl had denied the claim.
The judge ordered the teenager to give a DNA sample that could be put in the genetic database of sex offenders. He was also ordered to do 60 hours of community service.
After the ruling, the judges of the Federal Constitutional Court intervened, as they said this ruling could cause lasting damage to the reputation of the boy.
Everyone knows that young girls can lie about making out with boys out of fear of their parents. The Federal Constitutional Court feels that the ruling is way too harsh.
Germany’s highest court will investigate and decide whether or not the boy belongs on the sex-offender list.
