(Scroll down for video) A man was arrested after he allegedly set his ex-girlfriends house on fire killing six of her children.

The fire occurred the night before the couple was supposed to be in family court to decide the custody of their children, according to local press reports.

Mick Philpott, 56, had strange living arrangements with his wife and his mistress as they all lived in the same house.

Philpott lived in a house with his 31-year-old wife, Mairead Philpott, their children, as well as with his 29-year-old mistress, Lisa Willis, who was the mother of four of his children. The mistress had a total of six children.

Willis had enough of the relationship with Philpott, as she claims he was abusive and controlling, when she left the shared house with her six children.

That is when Philpott allegedly took revenge by setting the house on fire. The prosecution claims that he wanted to frame Willis over the fire, in order to claim negligence and in turn he would gain custody of their children, but the plan went “terribly” wrong when heavy smoke prevented people from entering the house to save the children.
The children who died in the fire are Duwayne, 13, Jade, 10, John, 9, Jack, 7, Jesse, 6, and Jayden 5,

After the six children were killed in the fire, police arrested Philpott, his wife and his friend Paul Mosley, 46, who is believed to be in on the plane. They all pleaded not guilty to six counts of manslaughter.

Prosecutors claim, that Philpott, began his evil plan of revenge of his ex-lover by filing a police report claiming that Willis, was threatening to kill him, his wife and the children. Prosecutors believe that he called police in order to “set up” Willis, according to court proceedings.
