The mother in Lakeland, Florida, is accused of sending her daughters a knife and asking them to kill their grandparents.
Leticia Silva, 31, had lost custody of the girls, aged 7 and 9, before the incident. The girls’ paternal grandparents, who live in Pitt County, North Carolina, has been granted permanent custody.

Last month, the grandmother told police she found a knife under one of the pillows of the children.
The girls told investigators that their mother had sent them first a switchblade knife, called them and asked them to take a kitchen knife and use it to kill their grandparents.

The kitchen knife was the weapon that the grandmother found under the pillow.
“It’s hard to say what a child will do,” Pitt County Detective Charles Mitchell, said. “The grandparents have told me that they talked to the children and none of them would have carried it out,” the detective added.

On Monday, Silva was arrested. She was charged with four counts of solicitation to commit murder and is being held on bail of $5 million.

Silva’s family claims that the grandparents are making up the entire story in order for them to continue to have permanent custody of the children.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
