(Scroll down for video) A popular U.S. female singer has announced that she has married a Muslim billionaire, according to press reports in the United States.
Singer Janet Jackson said Monday that she married her boyfriend, Qatari businessman last year, contradicting reports in press of an upcoming wedding.
Jackson, 46, the younger sister of the late singer Michael Jackson, was engaged to billionaire Wissam Al Mana, 37, last year, but kept the news a secret.
“Rumors of an extravagant wedding are simply not true. Last year we got married in a private ceremony that was quiet and beautiful,” Jackson and Al Mana told a television news station.
“Our wedding gifts to each other were contributions to favorite charities picked by our sons,” they also said.
The singer is known for keeping her life private from the press and rarely talks about her former husbands.
She married soul singer James DeBarge in 1984, and the marriage was annulled a year later. Her 1991 marriage to music video director Rene Elizondo ended in divorce in 2000.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
