Bumble Bee Foods LLC is recalling some of its 5-ounce canned tuna because of a risk that the fish could spoil.
The company said Wednesday that some cans might not be sealed. If the can is not sealed, pathogens and air can seep inside thereby spoiling the tuna, causing the consumer to become ill.
There have been no reports to date of tuna can related diseases.
The cans were distributed to retailers across the United States last month and has “best by” dates of January 2016.
The products subject to the recall include the Bumble Bee brand and the Brunswick brand 5-ounce cans albacore tuna chunks in water and chunk light in water and vegetable oil.
Consumers who believe they may have purchased one of the recalled products may contact Bumble Bee to get their money back and throw away the cans.
Bumble Bee is a private company based in San Diego, California.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
