The government of the Israeli city of Be’er Sheva is shut down after the main municipal building housing government offices burned down last night, according to fire officials in Be’er Sheva.
The building of the Be’er Sheva Municipality is shut down today, but not because of an employee strike.
Last night, around 11:00 pm there was a fire on the floor housing the offices of the deputy ministers. The floor housing the offices of the deputy mayor of the city of Be’er Sheva was completely destroyed.
Lots of smoke spread throughout the building despite the fact that firefighters extinguished the fire pretty quickly.
Renovations began immediately along with an investigation of the circumstances that led to the fire, since it is not clear how the highly secured building with numerous fire safety precautions was able to catch fire.
There were no people in the building, so no one was injured in the fire. No firefighters were injured from the fire.
