A woman was arrested and charged with child abuse related charges after trying to drown her child in a puddle of water because Jesus told her so, according to police reports in Arizona.

A neighbor of Victoria Soliz, 30, told police that he heard screams around 12:30 pm Friday. The man said he ran outside and saw Soliz in her front yard, pushing her son’s face in a puddle. Apparently, she did not stop, so he called police.

The neighbor also said that while he was calling the police, Soliz moved the child to a big puddle and kept doing it and then pulled him out and it looked like she was trying to perform CPR on the child.
Deputies of the Maricopa County sheriff arrived at the scene and both Soliz and her son were taken to a hospital.

Soliz told doctors she had been using methamphetamine to self-medicate herself for schizophrenia, according to court documents obtained by the local newspaper.

She allegedly added, however, that Jesus had told her to drown her son. Police also said that she said her son was glued to the ground.

The child was not injured.
Soliz has been charged with felony child abuse.
