(Scroll down for video) A dog who was scheduled to fly from New Jersey to Phoenix, Arizona, ended up in Ireland after catching the wrong flight, according to press reports in New Jersey.
The English Springer Spaniel named Hendrix ended up taking the serious detour on his way from New Jersey to Phoenix this week.
He ended up in Ireland after being put on the wrong flight.
A United Airlines spokesperson, Megan McCarthy, said that the dog, who is 6-years-old, was riding in the cargo section Thursday when the confusion happened. When the airline realized the mistake, she said the carrier took immediate steps to get Hendrix back to its owner.
A Phoenix television news station reported that the first word owner Meredith Grant got about the confusion was in a phone call from the airline before Hendrix’s original flight was due to land in Phoenix.
Grant said she felt like someone punched her in the stomach after learning that her dog had been sent to Ireland.
Hendrix was returned, the airline apologized and offered a full refund.
