A large snow storm dumped snow on numerous European highways including one that stranded many Israelis, according to press reports in Europe.
A bus carrying Israeli tourists, including children and pregnant women, was reportedly stuck on the M-1 highway between Austria and Hungary, following a snowstorm in the area.
The international unit of ZAKA emergency services alerted the European rescue teams, asking them to rescue trapped travelers and bring them food and hot drinks.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry announced late that local rescue forces arrived and began evacuating tourists to a nearby city. The Ministry said that the tourists were in good condition.
It was also reported that the rescue forces were having difficulty getting to the stranded tourists due to poor weather conditions. However, a ZAKA member told an Israeli television news station: “the Hungarian rescue forces arrived to rescue those stranded on the bus, identified three people who fainted and provided everyone with the care they needed. We are in contact with the situation Room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”
