(Scroll down for video) The terrorist behind the killing of Jewish The Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, was arrested in Pakistan, according to government officials in Pakistan.
Pakistani officials said they arrested a terrorist who can provide the key to unlocking the mystery of who planned and carried out the brutal 2002 kidnapping and beheading of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl.
Pearl, who was Jewish, was killed a month after he was taken into captivity on January 23, 2002, while traveling to interview a Muslim extremist in Pakistan. The beheading was recorded by the terrorists and sent to the U.S. Consulate. It was uploaded on the Internet, which sent shockwaves throughout the Western world.
Pearl’s dismembered body was found three months later.
The latest suspect arrested and accused of the kidnapping and murder is Qari Abdul Hayee.
Ruth and Judea Pearl, Daniel’s parents, said after the latest arrest report: “We are delighted with this latest arrest, and hope that justice is done in a timely manner to all who were involved in the kidnapping and murder of our son, Danny.”
Hayee, also known as Asadullah, was arrested Sunday during a raid in Karachi.
It was the first time he was arrested for his alleged involvement in the murder of Pearl.
In May 2003, he was arrested for allegedly murdering six Shiite Muslims.
He was sentenced to death for the murders of the Shiites. Hayee was released for some unknown reason.
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who was one of the 9-11 masterminds, said that he ordered the kidnapping of Pearl, and also said that he personally beheaded him, but was never charged.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
