(Scroll down for video) A librarian at a prestigious university has lost her job after students recorded a Harlem Shake video at the facility, according to press reports in the United Kingdom.
Oxford University St. Hilda college fired Librarian Calypso Nash for not stopping a group of 30 students from breaking into a dance at the 120-year-old university.
Students who were identified of participating in the video posted on YouTube last week that has gone viral have been fined 60 pounds.
The sacking caused an uproar with students calling for the restoration of Nash who said that she “just happened to be in the library at the time and was not taking part in the dance.”
St. Hilda Junior Common Room President. Esther Gosling. said: “We are not trying to undermine the university authorities, but we believe that the librarian has been treated unfairly and therefore we call on her being reinstated.”
Video recorded at the University of St. Hilda showed a student wearing a football helmet and dancing while other students sat and studied. The next shot is of all students in the library breaking into a crazy dance.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
