(Scroll down for video) An Arab Israeli Christian woman was crowned as the top singer in Israel, at the final episode of the Israeli reality television show called “The Voice Of Israel”, according to press reports in Israel.
Lina Makhoul, an Israeli Arab Christian, was crowned the winner in the second season of the show.
The 19-year-old, of Acre, beat three other participants in the final rounds, getting a record deal and a scholarship to attend music school.
Makhoul sang “Hallelujah”, a song produced by Jewish Canadian musician Leonard Cohen, as her final song.
During her acceptance speech, Makhoul described how she overcame racism during the competition, but also said she had received many positive reactions from the general public.
