(Scroll down for video) The popular Zumba sex instructor scandal is apparently over after the girl behind the prostitution business pleaded guilty to many charges against her, according to court proceedings in Maine.
The dance instructor accused of using her Zumba fitness club as a front for prostitution pleaded guilty Friday to 20 counts in a scandal that captivated a quiet seaside city.
The plea agreement spares Alexis Wright from her fast approaching high-profile trial with sex videos, exhibitionism and pornography, and more than a thousand texts and emails detailing her prostitution operation. Prosecutors will recommend a prison sentence of 10 months.
Wright, who is 30-years-old, was accused of conspiring with her insurance agent, Mark Strong, of running a prostitution business which kept detailed records indicating she made $150,000 over a period of 18 months. She also was accused of using a hidden camera to record sexual acts without the knowledge of her clients.
“I’m glad this is over. This case has been hanging over our little city for too long, a resident of Kennebunk, Maine,” told YourJewishNews.com. Others however, were not so supportive.
“I kind of looked forward for her trial to begin. It would have been quite entertaining, like a reality television show,” Stacy Herbman, 37, of New York City told YourJewishNews.com.
Strong, 57, of Thomaston, was convicted of 13 charges related to the promotion of prostitution and sentenced to 20 days in jail.
Wright quietly replied guilty 20 times when the judge read the charges, including involvement in prostitution, promoting prostitution, conspiracy to promote prostitution, tax evasion and theft by deception. Among her clients were several high profile officials of her city, according to court proceedings.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
