(Scroll down for video) President Obama sent his good wishes to the newly formed government of Israel.
It took some time to put the coalition together but in the end everyone came to a mutual understanding and a strong coalition was formed.
President Obama congratulated Prime Minister Netanyahu, and the new members of the prime minister’s governing coalition on the successful formation of the new government of Israel.
“President Obama looks forward to working closely with the prime minister and the new government to address the many challenges we face and advance our shared interest in peace and security,” White House spokesperson Jay Carney said.
“The United States places a high value on deep and lasting ties with Israel and the Israeli people,” he added.
The President looks forward to further strengthening these ties when traveling to Israel this week to meet with Netanyahu and the new Israeli government.
President Obama said that the goal for his upcoming trip is to listen to both the Israeli government and its citizens as well as Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinians, to hear from them what their strategy is and see how a two state solution can be accomplished.
