A robber was caught after he left his brand new pickaxe behind.
The burglar broke into a pharmacy, ransacked the store and stole a lot of pharmaceutical drugs.
The man used a pickaxe to break into the pharmacy. While the thief made off with the drugs, he left behind the pickaxe. The axe still had the price sticker from the home improvement store where it was purchased, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Col. John Fortunato said.
Authorities in Louisiana were able to track the robber by the price tag from the pickaxe.
The label included a barcode indicating when and where the item was bought. Police went to the home improvement store and reviewed the security camera, Fortunato said.
A store near the pharmacy had video surveillance from the night of the robbery, showing the same man and police were able to get his vehicle license plate.
The man was identified as 43-year-old Scott Rodrigue. The stolen pharmaceutical drugs were found during a search of the house.
Rodriguez was charged with robbery and possession of drugs. He released on bail of $70,000.
