A man is accused of killing his sister after he bought life insurance on her.
It was a sad day for one mother who lost two of her children in one day. Her daughter was brutally murdered, while her son was arrested and charged with the killing. He is facing a long prison sentence.
37-year-old Chen Chia-fu, from Taiwan, was arrested after he was accused of murdering his own sister by decapitation to collect life insurance.
Chia-fu is accused of murdering his sister in New Taipei City, and leaving her remains in a public restroom.
An investigation revealed that Chia-fu stood to gain more than NT $6 million which is approximately $200,000 from life insurance after his sister’s death.
According to police, around 4:00 am, a man, who is believed to be the suspect, is seen on surveillance footage carrying plastic bags. On that day, at 11:00 a.m., the person was captured by a surveillance camera in Chiayi County, some 100 meters from the location where police found the victim’s remains.
Chia-fu denies having anything to do with the murder of his sister. But he did confirm that he took out four different insurance policies on his sister.
He bought four life insurance policies for NT $3 million, NT $1.5 million, NT $1.55 million and NT $310,000, a total of NT $6.36 million which is approximately $200,000 U.S. dollars .
