A topless barber shop in Australia became extremely popular in a short period of time after men began flocking to get their hair done, according to press reports in the United Kingdom.

The topless hair shop, offers customers to have their hair cut by a barely-dressed female hairdresser.

“Barber Babes”, based in Brisbane, has employees wearing only pants or underwear. Besides haircuts, the shop offers head massages, eyebrow waxing, blow-drys and shaves.

Jasmine Robson, owner of the company, said the idea came from her belief that most men find it inconvenient to go to the barber, and wanted to give them an extra incentive to get their haircut.

She added: “We found that many exotic dancers are qualified hairdressers who do not do what they like because wages are pretty abysmal. Some of the barbers are available for dances, but not while you are getting the service at Barber Babes. They are serious about their art and do not take it lightly.”

While the service has been very popular, Collective Shout, a movement against the objectification of women, has expressed its disapproval.

Melinda Liszewski said: “What we are seeing is the crossing of the sex industry in more general areas. This barber shop reinforces the idea that women exist only for the sexual arousal of men.”

“This is a great idea. Getting a haircut is boring and now it will become extremely interesting,” Raymond Hall, 22, of Brisbane, Australia told after learning about Barber Babes.

However, not everyone agreed with Hall. “This is definetly like sexual exploitation of women and this shop should be shut down by the government. It brings shame to women,” Virginia Ward, 39, of Brisbane, Australia told
