(Scroll down for video) This was definitely a sight to remember after millions of euros in cash suddenly blew through a street.
$1.3 million in euro bills were seen flying flew through the streets of one Belgian city after a safe door burst open.
All this happened when a gang of thieves were being chased by police officers on motorcycles when the money was accidentally released from a safe.
The neighbors came out of their houses and cars to grab a share of the euros, with one woman sweeping up notes with a broom and shovel.
Zedelgem authorities have recovered less than half of the stolen cash two weeks after the incident and are asking residents to return the rest.
“Too bad this types of stories happen in other cities and not where I live. It wouldn’t be bad at all if one day I see my sidewalk covered in millions of dollars in cash,” Alba Holcomb, 29, of Greenville, South Carolina told YourJewishNews.com after learning about the free cash.
Mayor Patrick Arnou said: “It was a storm of money. People talk about nothing else in this city, since this happened.”
Arnou added that people could put money into a mailbox on the edge of town, no questions asked. However, some of the money which was placed into the box was also nearly stolen.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
