(Scroll down for video) A New York couple decided to turn on their babysitter surveillance camera right before leaving on vacation.

When they came back home they were shocked to learn that they were robbed, and it was all caught on camera, according to video uploaded to the internet.

The nanny cam of a Brooklyn family caught the thief stealing an Apple computer, cash and jewelry from their home while they were out of town.

The camera video showed the robber, wearing a wool hat, hooded sweatshirt and gloves, placing a laptop in a bag, along with other items, right next to the crib of a baby in the family home in the Brighton Beach neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York.

The thief made off with $5,000 in valuables, police said.
The residents were out of town for the weekend when the thief sneaked through a back window at 9:00 pm, police said.

“It is fascinating to see how thieves have the audacity to enter someone’s home and steal items. I am glad that it was all recorded on video, and I hope that the New York Police Department will soon catch this guy and put him behind bars where he belongs,” Lena Wise, 20, of Brooklyn, New York told YourJewishNews.com after watching the video.

Alexey Chizhov said that it was a last minute decision to turn on the camera before he and his family left.
“That day when we went to Washington, I decided to turn it on,” he said. “The cameras have not been obtained for security reasons, we have never had any thieves in our house, but I was like, ‘Why not?'” Chizhov also said.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
