Designers, engineers and computer scientists have been working on a humanoid robot for years, but so far, they have been unable to reach the perfect robotic assistant. However, one robot is able to detect when you are in the mood for a beer, not only that, it will also serve you.
Researchers at Cornell University have used a Microsoft Kinect sensor and a special code which allows the robot to predict the behavior of the movements you make.
Among the moves it can predict is the need to open the fridge, and reaching for a glass on the table to drink. When the robot detects that you would like more of the drink it moves in and refills your cup.
Ashutosh Saxena, one of the scientists working on the project, revealed that about 120 actions were programmed into the robot in order for it to be able to help. Clearly, beer is one of the more interesting things it can do, but it can also serve cereal and brush your teeth.
“Looking ahead a little helps a lot,” he said, noting that there will be no spills since the robot can predict whether you are about to move the glass.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
