Paris Jackson was rushed to a California hospital Wednesday after attempting suicide, a family member said, adding that the family is asking for privacy.

The 15-year-old, cut her wrists with a butcher knife, and wrote a suicide note.

The teen, whose father died in 2009, was placed on a psychiatric hold in the hospital, the family member said, adding that Paris suffered from depression and suicidal thoughts.
Paris is in fair condition, hospital officials said.

A sheriff spokesperson said that officers had responded to a home in Calabasas, near Los Angeles, where Jackson lives for a “medical situation”, but refused to confirm the identity of the person taken to hospital.

Her grandmother, Katherine, who is currently suing the promoters of Jackson’s doomed final tour, said: “Be sensitive to the 15-year-old, it is difficult no matter who you are. It’s especially hard when you lose the person closest to you. Paris is physically very well and is receiving proper medical care. Please respect our privacy.”

Debbie Rowe, the mother of Paris and the self-proclaimed King of Pop’s ex-wife, said: “We appreciate everyone’s thoughts at this time for Paris and please respect the privacy of the family.”
She was taken from her Calabasas family home on a stretcher after consuming a large number of Motrin painkillers.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
