(Scroll down for video) A woman was left devastated after her husband sold her $23,000 diamond ring for just $10.
The incident came about after the California woman hid her diamond wedding ring, which cost about $23,000.00, inside a watch case. She said that her husband sold the box for $10 because he thought it was empty.
Racquel Cloutier, 31, of Laguna Niguel said she hid the ring inside the watch box and put it in her husband’s closet in order to keep away from her 2-year-old twins while she was in the hospital giving birth to another child.
Cloutier said she went to get the ring when she returned home and was dismayed to learn that her husband, Eric, had sold the apparently empty watch box for $10 in a garage sale.
“I go into the closet of my husband, and couldn’t find the box. That is when he told me he sold it. I said: ‘did you sell it? Why did you sell it? Immediately I began to cry,” Cloutier said.
“I’m very, very, very upset,” she said. “I’m trying to remain optimistic, but I don’t know if I can. There is a small possibility that whoever bought the watch box does not even know the ring is there,” she said.
Cloutier said her husband described the buyer as a blonde.
She said her husband “feels really terrible” and expects the buyer to return the ring.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
