(Scroll down for video) After police have mistaken an art piece for a bomb they decided to blow it up, according to police reports in Iowa.
The incident occurred with an art piece created by Russell Jaffe, who is an artist and poet. He creates art pieces from thrown away video game systems and garbage electronics.
One of his pieces, a painted broken television with a blood stained antenna, was purchased at an art fair. Then he left it in a newspaper vending machine that locals said is a leave something take something art exchange box.
According to the Police Department of Iowa City, private security personnel working at a festival realized the object and notified authorities who in turn contacted the Johnson County bomb squad.
Police said the bomb team followed protocol and examine the unknown suspicious electronic package. That is when they decided to detonate the package with a controlled robot.
“Having my art and poetry gutted by a bomb destroying robot is a thing that I never realized I always wanted,” Jaffe joked said in a statement.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
