The 78-year-old Canadian woman, also known as the “Black Widow” because if a previous manslaughter conviction, has been sentenced to 3 and one half years in prison for drugging her newlywed husband.
The sentence for Melissa Ann Shepard, who pleaded guilty Monday to administering a noxious substance and failing to provide the necessities of life, was reduced to two years and nine months for time served after being arrested for the crime. Shepard was charged last year after Fred Weeks fell ill while the couple was on honeymoon.
The woman admitted in court that she put tranquilizers in the coffee of her 75-year-old man, who was later taken to a hospital. He survived the attack.
Shepard was convicted of manslaughter in the 1992 death of her second husband, Gordon Stewart. The woman drugged him and ran him over twice with her car.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
