Burned and beaten horse found hiding in barn

(Scroll down for video) A horse in Florida fled after being severely abused by its owner, according to police in Florida.

The Marion County police appealed to the public that they want to know who attacked the Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse.

Police said that Lisa Hensley found the injured horse hiding in her mini-farm, when she returned home from a weekend camping trip.
Officials from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said the horse named Sassy was burned at the left leg and on its side.

Hensley told police that the horse was hiding in a dark corner of the barn and could barely stand or walk.
The owner of Sassy, Dr. Todd Overcash, said that the horse in a lot of pain. He said that the horse has bruises on the bottom of its belly, as if someone kicked it repeatedly.

The horse is receiving treatment twice a day and is expected to recover.
