(Scroll down for video) A family was left devastated after their son was killed by his younger friend.
Now, the family of the 6-year-old boy, who was accidentally shot and killed by his 4-year-old playmate, is suing the parents of the young boy.
Brandon Holt was killed several months ago while playing with a fully loaded gun, which he found in Melissa and Antonio Senatore’s home. Authorities have said the 4-year-old boy took his fathers loaded .22 caliber rifle and fired a shot that hit Brandon in the head.
The lawsuit filed by the Holt family is suing Melissa and Antonio Senatore, of Toms River, New Jersey, claiming that their recklessness led to the child’s death.
“Given the horrible death of Brandon, his suffering before his death, his young age, and the parents’ emotional suffering, the case has a value well into seven figures,” the lawyer for the Holt Family, Kevin Parsons, said. “Clearly, the Holt family would rather turn back time and have their son back, but unfortunately, that’s not possible,” the lawyer added.
The younger boy’s father, Anthony Senatore, was charged with child neglect and failing to secure weapons. Authorities found four shotguns and ammunition, accessible to Senatore’s three children. His children are ages 4, 8, and 12-years-old.
Senatore, is free on $100,000 bail and could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted. In a statement, Senatore’s lawyer Robert Ebberup, said: “There is not a day that passes when my client does not feel pain and sadness for the loss of such a wonderful child. The Senatores are deeply saddened by Holt’s death.”Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
