A medical team were left stunned after a baby was born fully enclosed in the amniotic sac after it has been removed from the mother’s body.

The doctor captured this very rare moment by camera and posted the incredible photo on Facebook. The photos show the baby still in its amniotic sac.

Dr. Aris Tsigris of Athens, Greek, delivered the baby via Cesarean section. He was left speechless when the baby was inside the amniotic sac still floating in clear fluid that protects fetuses.

Dr. Tsigris said that because the baby was still encased in the sac it did not even realize it had been born. Normally, during the early stages of labor, the amniotic sac breaks, which is commonly known as the mother’s “water breaking.”

The baby was not at risk of not breathing because it was still feeding off of the placenta, which connects the fetus to the uterine wall for nutrients. The newborn started breathing on its own as soon as the doctor cut open the amniotic sac.
