Popular Storage Wars sweetheart Brandi Passante, won a lawsuit against an adult entertainment site, which used her photos without permission.
Brandi Passante, a star of A&E’s “Storage Wars”, won a lawsuit against the adult entertainment site, after they used a video and nude photos, while claiming it was her. The lawsuit also claimed that the site offered merchandise that resembled her.
Passante sued Hunter Moore, the former operator of the website called “Is Anyone Up?”. She was seeking $2.5 million in actual and exemplary damages, plus $5,250 in statutory damages. The damages included false designation of origin, defamation, false light invasion of privacy and disparagement.
Judge James V. Selna of U.S. District Court in central California ruled in her favor. She won the lawsuit, but surprisingly, the judge awarded her only $750. It is a small amount compared to what she was asking. The judge reportedly ruled that Passante provided “absolutely no support for her calculation of damages” and lacked showing evidence to support her claim.
In addition to the $750, the judge ordered Moore to pay her attorney fees, and issued a permanent injunction ordering Moore to “remove all remaining and undisclosed content of video and photos from all websites and restraining Defendant from disseminating the content.” Passante has the option to submit a renewed application or actual damages within 30 days of the judge’s order.
Jarrod Schultz and Brandi Passante are seen as the “husband and wife team of underdogs” on the Storage Wars show. Many people have asked if they are married since they both have different last names, the truth is that they are not married. They have reportedly been together for over 12 years and they have two children, a boy and a girl together, but they have never officially tied the knot.
