A man was arrested and will be charged with assault related charges after stabbing two people and attempting to stab a third man, according to police reports in Israel.
Jerusalem Police said that they arrested the man, 22, of the Silwan neighborhood in Jerusalem, on the suspicion that he was behind two different stabbing attacks recently, and a third attempted stabbing.
Police believe that the suspect stabbed a Jewish man, 52, in Bloomfield Gardens, late last month. The victim of the Pisgat Zev neighborhood of Jerusalem was stabbed in the chest and hand. The victim told police that an Arab man attacked him when he was in the bathroom.
The suspect fled from the scene and went to Jerusalem’s Old City. Once there, he tried to stab another Jewish man. That attack failed, police said.
The suspect later went to the Damascus Gate of the Old City, and got into a fight with another Arab man. During the argument the suspect stabbed the third victim.
The attacks are not believed to have been motivated by nationalism, police said.
Prosecutors plan to file charges against the suspect on Monday, in the Jerusalem District Court.
