A man was arrested and charged with bestiality related charges after he had a prolonged intimate relationship with a cat, according to police reports in Idaho.
Boise Police said that Ryan Havens Tannenholz has been arrested and charged with serious crimes against nature for allegedly having sex with a cat on several occasions.
Tannenholz, 28, was arrested Thursday by police in Boise. Investigators said that Tannenholz repeatedly violated the animal in a Boise home between January 2012 and January 2013. Prosecutors did not reveal who tipped off police about the animal abuse.
Tannenholz has been charged with six felony counts of crimes against nature and one count of misdemeanor animal cruelty. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison for each of the felony charges and up to six months in prison on the charge of cruelty to animals.
Charles McClure, a spokesperson for the Boise Police Department, said the allegations against Tannenholz were definitely unusual. In the eight years he has been with the department, McClure said he has only seen one or two other cases like this.
Tannenholz is being held in a Boise jail on $250,000 bond. He is due to appear back in court next week.
