(Scroll down for video) A local restaurant is under fire after allegedly kicking out 25 African-American customers because a white customer said he felt threatened by their presence.
The same time the United States is commemorating the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington, people are flocking to social media websites in order to condemn a South Carolina restaurant for their racist actions.
Michael Brown, along with 24 of his relatives and friends, were in the Wild Wing Cafe to celebrate the last day of his cousin in Charleston, South Carolina, last month, when the group was told to leave the restaurant.
The shift manager told Brown that a white client felt “threatened” by his party. When one of the members of the Brown family began filming the exchange, the shift manager told the group to leave.
“This fully alarmed all of us because we were sitting there peacefully for several hours,” Brown said.
To make matters worse, Brown said his group had waited “patiently” for two hours to get a seat in the restaurant. He took to Facebook to express his frustration with the establishment in North Charleston.
A representative of Wild Wing Cafe, a restaurant chain with multiple locations, has approached Brown to apologize and offered him a free meal for the group. However, Brown said that the issue goes much “deeper than that.”
