(Scroll down for video) A group of school children are lucky to be alive after their bus driver recklessly drove through a train crossing despite the fact that a train was coming, according to police reports in Israel.
Police said that the bus driver was seen on a police camera breaking a rail barrier and endangering the lives of students. The man, 39, of Haka al-Gharbia, was arrested after he was allegedly seen breaking the rail barrier on the first day of the school year.
“The traffic light was red, the railway lights have been flashing, and the bells rang, warning the driver of an oncoming train. However, that did not stop the driver from endangering the occupants of the bus, and he broke through the barrier,” a police officer assigned to the case said.
After the incident, the driver continued on his way and arrived at the school, where students left the bus.
The driver denied the allegations and claimed that it “never happened” despite the fact that police have him on video.
The man’s license has been suspended, and he will be charged with reckless endangerment.
