(Scroll down for video) A man was arrested and charged with murder related charges after killing his wife, who was suffering from cancer, according to police reports in Kentucky.
Laurel County Police said that the man, who is accused of killing his wife, said he fatally shot her because she asked him to end her suffering from breast cancer.
“She told me she wanted me to end her pain. I told her that all I have is what the doctor has prescribed. However, she insisted that I end her pain for good,” Ernest Chris Chumbley said from prison.
The sheriff’s office said that Chumbley police at 2:30 am on Wednesday saying he had killed his wife.
Police found Virginia Chumbley dead in the bedroom of the couple’s home with two gunshot wounds.
The 48-year-old Chumbley was arrested on a charge of murder and was being held on $200,000 bond.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges in Laurel District Court.
Neighbors said the couple had been happily married for over 20 years, but her breast cancer had ravaged her health.
“She was hurting badly. I could hear her at night gasping for air,” Stanley Campbell, a neighbor, said.
