(Scroll down for video) A U.S. business owner was killed in Thailand after going onstage to sing with a band.

What was supposed to be a fun vacation in Bangkok turned into a nightmare for one family.

Bobby Ray Carter, 51, of Texas, his wife Kelly, and their 18-month-old daughter Sadie, traveled to Thailand to celebrate Mr. Carter’s birthday.
The Carters were meeting up with several other couples including Carter’s adult son. The group went out to the Longhorn Saloon bar at the Ao Nang beach in Krabi province in Thailand.

At the bar, Carter went up on stage to sing with the band. After a few songs, the musicians insisted that Carter sit down and give other people a chance to sing. Carter, who was said to be drunk, refused to leave the stage, according to Lieutenant Jongrak Pimthong.

The band stopped playing. Carter and his 27-year-old son Adam asked for their tips back. That is when they got into a heated argument with the musicians.
The fight continued outside where Carter was stabbed in the chest with a sharp iron rod by one of the musicians, while his son was stabbed while trying to protect his father.

51-year-old Carter, who was president of an electronics company called Led Cool lights, with offices in Texas and China, died in a hospital from the stab wound.
The three band members, Sathit Somsa, 40, Ratikorn Romin, 27, and Noppanant Yoddecha, 26, were arrested and face charges of murder. Dallas News |
