(Scroll down for video) Police are investigating as to how an 8-year-old boy got into a washing machine, which was working, and filled with water and clothing.

The boy of California was found submerged in the water of the working washing machine. He was unconscious when he was pulled out of the machine by his father.

The father immediately called police. Deputies quickly arrived at the residence in Castaic, Los Angeles and administered CPR to the boy.

The fire department also responded to the scene and helped resurrect him. The child was rushed to a local hospital where he was listed in critical, but stable condition. Sadly, the boy succumbed to his injuries and died at the hospital.

The incident was reported about 7:30 pm. The boy’s mother was out shopping and his father was working in the garden outside of the house. After not seeing his son for a while, the father decided to check on him. That is when he found the child inside the washing machine.

His head was underwater and surrounded by clothes. It was obviously that a load of laundry was being done at the time.
Investigators are trying figure out how and why the boy got into the washer. The special needs child reportedly often helped with household chores, including laundry.

Authorities are still investigating this incident and have not yet announced if the parents will face child abuse or child neglect charges, or if the case was simply an accident.
