The man broke into a house in Long Island, New York, he woke up a sleeping 8-year-old and ordered her to leave the house, before hitting her over the head with a mop.

According to reports, 22-year-old Matthew Levine of Westbury, New York, broke into his neighbor’s house at about 1:00 am, stole a cell phone and made a call.

The homeowner, Susan Nunez, 34, said that she was upstairs watching a movie. She admits that she did not lock her front door.
She heard someone talking in her house. “I went downstairs and heard someone talking in the kitchen and I was like who is it,” Nunez said.

Nunez ran to her neighbor Daryl Ernest’s house and asked for help. She also called police. Meanwhile, Levine locked the front door and headed upstairs. He went to the room of the homeowner’s 8-year-old daughter.

She was sleeping when Levine took a mop and repeatedly hit her on the head. The girl woke up and screamed for Levine to stop, but the man ordered her to leave the house claiming it was his house.

When the mother returned with her neighbor, they found the door locked. Ernest broke the door down and found the 22-year-old in the house.

“I talked to him for a couple of minutes. I tried to get him to calm down. I told him that everything would be all right and waited for the police to arrive,” Daryl Ernest said.
Levine was arrested and charged with burglary, assault, possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.
