A Ohio woman had a court hearing, but she was not in town, so her mother showed up in court instead of her.
Tomeka Oliver, 39, of Ohio tried to cover for her daughter and appeared in a Cincinnati court in her place.
Tomeka Oliver’s daughter, Sarah Oliver, 22, was supposed to be in court on a charge that she did not have a driver’s license with her when she was pulled over earlier this year. She was ticketed and given a court date.
In court, things seemed to be going as planned. The mother pleaded guilty to the charges and admitted that “she” did not have her driver’s license when she was stopped by an officer.
She was ordered to pay a fine of $50.
Unfortunately for her, someone in the room recognized Tomeka Oliver, and told the Hamilton County Municipal Court staff that she was not the Sarah Oliver as she pretended to be, and identified her as the mother of the perpetrator.
Judge Dwane Mallory, who is the bother of Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory, wasn’t happy that he’d been fooled. He immediately cited the mother for contempt of court and ordered her to be jailed.
An arrest warrant was issued for her daughter, Sarah Oliver, who reportedly had a number of run-ins with the law.
The mother thought she could pass as her daughter because the mother and daughter look a lot like each other, as both are 5-foot 4-inches tall, the same size, with black hair and brown eyes.
The mother and daughter have previously been arrested together. Both were charged with disorderly conduct after being involved in a street fight in the Clifton Heights neighborhood.
